While The North Face Modem Laptop Backpack is an inch shorter than the utilitarian Vault Daypack it offers the same carrying capacity (1850 cubic inches) along with a few features specifically oriented toward urban commuters and students. In the large main compartment with canted opening you'll find a universal sleeve that fits most small laptops and accommodating organization. Along the front you'll find a secondary compartment with additional organization. A comfortable Airmesh back panel shoulder straps and removable hip belt allow for total adjustment. The North Face Modem pack is more about what you make it and less about expensive specialized features so you never pay more for things you might not need on the trail or out on the road.
