For 218 years, the Presidio—located in the San Francisco Bay area—served as an army post for three nations. World and local events, including military campaigns, the rise of aviation, the World’s Fairs and severe earthquakes, left their mark and give the Presidio its distinct character. It is here that you can explore centuries of architecture. Reflect in a national cemetery. Walk through an historic airfield, forests, or to beaches, and admire spectacular vistas.
If you are interested in learning more about the Presidio, consider attending Unsung Heroes, a lecture that promises to deepen your understanding of the people who influenced Presidio’s history. Ranger James Osborne will offer insights into the men and women, “browns, blacks and whites, generals and nurses, planners and protesters,” who played a critical role in the locality.
To attend this free interpretive event, meet Ranger Osborne at the visitor center located at the Officers’ Club, 50 Moraga Avenue, on January 25th at 12:00 noon. The event is scheduled to last one hour.
