Fire raging toward Grand Canyon

April 30, 2008, 9:37 am

Crews using bulldozers are cutting fire lines in order to keep a human-caused wildfire burning near the Grand Canyon from spreading.

Fire bosses on Wednesday morning said the fire grew overnight, but credited lighter winds and lower temperatures Tuesday evening with helping slow the fire down. Fire officials feared reports of brisk winds, coupled with dry conditions, expected Wednesday afternoon could fan the flames further.
