Cliff Hansen is known throughout Wyoming for his achievements as governor and U.S. senator. But recently, Hansen was in the national spotlight when he was featured in Ken Burns' popular PBS documentary series on America's national parks for his opposition to - and, later, his support of - the expansion of Grand Teton National Park.

America's National Parks are high on our interest list.We travel in the summertime to national parks or visit the parks in the South during the winter.As a travel agent, some great winter destinations I recommend are Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks. Not only do the snowmobile riders enjoy seeing the parks in the winter, but they are joined by snowshoers and cross country skiers.

In response to an announcement today regarding a National Parks Service program encouraging hunters to voluntarily switch to alternative ammunition, the National Shooting Sports Foundation rejected NPS's categorization of traditional ammunition as a health threat.

Special family-oriented Junior Ranger programs inspired by Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax will be offered at Grand Teton National Park during the week of August 9 - 15. Families with children of all ages are invited to attend one of the unique Junior Ranger sessions designed to highlight the whimsy and love of nature that Dr. Seuss incorporated into many of his literary works. The Junior Ranger programs will begin each day at 1:30 p.m. and last for 1.5 hours. The specific locations and days for each session are:

Several large thunderstorms passed through eastern Idaho Sunday. Leaving many in awe at its beauty and power.But lightning can put those at the Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management in standby mode.Only one fire is being blamed on last nights storm here in eastern Idaho. But in Grand Teton National Park, three have been blamed on lightning strikes.
