Elevation 5900 ft. 10 campsites. Deep in the heart of the Canyon Rims Recreation Area, where you can enjoy hiking through the redrock country, sightseeing, and mountain biking the dirt roads that crisscross this relatively remote area.

  • Camping

    Hatch Point Campground is located 56 miles southwest of Moab. To reach the campground, drive 32 miles south of Moab on Highway 191 to the Canyon Rims Recreation Area turnoff. Follow that road for approximately 15 miles and make a right on the graveled road that goes towards Anticline Overlook. Follow this graveled road for about 9 miles to the campground. The campground is situated on a mesa top which offers fine views of the surrounding area. The remote and quiet location guarantees excellent star-gazing opportunities. Water is available from early May through late-September. Campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

    A fee is required. Ten sites total. Toilets are available.

  • Hiking

    Hiking is developed in the Canyon Rims Recreation Area. Trails are primitive and not always clearly marked.

  • Picnicking

    Picnic tables are available at campsites.


Extreme heat is common in summer. Freezing temperatures during winter nights.



From Monticello go 45 miles northwest of US 191 on Canyon Rims Road (Needles/Anticline Scenic Backway). From 191, look for the sign for Canyon Rims Recreation Area.
