Things To Do

Plan a picnic or set up camp near Hult Reservior, where you can spend the afternoon canoeing, warm water fishing, or explore many miles of forest roads. Then, wander through the surrounding mountains to find the Salem District's Alsea Recreation Area and Back Country Byway. Hult Reservoir is accessed via a gravel road and has unimproved camping or picnic space available along the south and west shores. Centrally located within the Upper Lake Creek Special Recreation Management Area, the reservoir provides a convenient staging or camping location. This is also the only developed visitor area inside the Special Management Area.

Historically, the pond has been popular for fishing for both warm and cold water species. There is a primitive boat ramp on the shore of the pond, which offers access for canoeing, kayaking, and other non-motorized boating. Portable chemical toilets are provided during the summer season. The pond and surrounding wetlands also support diverse plant, fish, and wildlife populations.
