Harmonie State Park is located "on the banks of the Wabash" 25 miles northwest of Evansville. A beautiful swimming pool, shady picnic areas, ravines and pristine landscape await you here. This is a trail lover's paradise! Trails for walking, biking and nature hikes will lure you for a visit.

Nearby historic New Harmony honors two unique communities from the early 1800s. The Rappites located here in 1814. They were fleeing from religious persecution and awaiting the impending millennium. In 1824, the Owenites brought many great scientists and philosophers into the area when they purchased the Rappites holdings.

  • Boating

    There is a boat ramp near the campground into the Wabash River.

  • Bicycling

    Approximately 3 miles of trail connect the campground and swimming pool. One mile runs through woodland. The remaining 2 miles run adjacent to roadway. Trailheads for 5.5 miles of mountain bike trails are located at Sycamore Ridge. Do not ride in soft or muddy conditions. Children under 12 should ride with an adult. Helmets are required.

  • Camping

    The campground claims 200 electrical sites; 20 sites have 50-amp service, the remaining have 30-amp. Five modern comfort stations are available; one is heated during winter months. Occupancy is limited to two weeks. Most sites will accommodate trailer or tents. Six accessible sites are dispersed throughout the campground. There is no individual water or sewer hookups at sites, though a dump station is located near the entrance. Water is available throughout campground. A pay phone is also availible for park guests. Youth tent camping is available only where designated. Additionally, there are modern family cabins that offer air conditioning and electric heat, wood stove and an outdoor charcoal grill. Two of these cabins are fully accessible. Occupancy limited to two weeks. No pets. Cabins are open all year. All reservations can be made through the Central Reservation System. Minimum rental age is 21. Reserve with a credit card.

  • Fishing

    There are two wildlife ponds along Trail 5. The Wabash River picnic area also offers excellent fishing. A state license is required.

  • Hiking

    Eight miles of easy to moderate hiking trails are located in the park. No bicycles or vehicles of any other kind are permitted on hiking trails.

  • Horseback Riding

    There are four miles of horse trails for day use only.

  • Picnicking

    The picnic areas are an ideal environment for a family gathering or company celebration. Six picnic areas, five shelter houses, picnic tables, grills, modern restrooms, playground equipment, and playfield are availible for use. The restrooms are seasonal. Poplar Grove has paved accessible pathways throughout picnic area. Reserve shelters through the Central Reservation System.

  • Water Sports

    A swimming pool and waterslide are open Memorial Day to Labor Day at the latest.
