Overview

The James Diversion Dam and Reservoir are located on the James River in east-central South Dakota, about 17 miles north of Huron. The reservoir covers 960 water surface acres, 521 acres of land, and 85 miles of shoreline. There is a public-use area, a picnic area, and boating. Available fish species include crappie, catfish, and walleye. The reservoir is open year-round.
