Desert Queen Mine Trail

The Desert Queen Mine Trail begins from the Pine City backcountry registry. It leads a half mile to the mine ruins, tailings pile and shafts of the Desert Queen gold mine. This mine operated from 1895 to 1961, with several periods of inactivity. A fork in the trail will take visitors to an overlook of the mine property (left) and to the mine site (right). The shafts of the mine are closed by fencing for the protection of visitors.
