Old Dale Road

Old Dale Road leads north to Highway 62 from Pinto Basin Road. The route begins at the same point as Black Eagle Mine Road, six and a half miles north of Cottonwood Visitor Center on Pinto Basin Road. The route begins at an elevation of 2,484 feet and descends through the dry lake bed, which is Pinto Basin. As it enters into the Pinto Mountains the road splits with the right fork leading to the east as Brooklyn Mine Road. (There are several other side roads that fork from Old Dale Road on it's 23 mile path to Highway 62.) Shortly after the road enters the mountainous terrain north of Pinto Basin, it becomes Gold Crown Road. This leads northwestward to Highway 62 through mining territory gaining elevation slowly. Gold Crown Road reaches the highway 15 miles east of Twentynine Palms.
