Grant Grove Village

Within walking distance of the Grant Grove of Giant Sequoias and the General Grant Tree, lies Grant Grove Village. Originally part of General Grant National Park, established in 1890, Grant Grove Village was a popular camping site for early visitors to the Big Trees. Today, Grant Grove's guest facilities include a new lodge, historic rustic cabins, a family-friendly restaurant, gift shop and grocery market. John Muir Lodge

Open year-round, the new lodge at Grant Grove Village offers 30 hotel rooms, including six suites, and features an enchanting mountain décor. Each guestroom has two queen beds, private bath and telephone. The suites also have a connecting room that has a seating area with a sleeper-sofa, a king bed and a second bath. Most of the lodge rooms enjoy a forest view, and all guests have access to the lodge's balconies, which feature outdoor seating with great scenery. The lobby of the lodge features a stone fireplace and is a wonderful gathering place for guests to enjoy games or conversation. A painting and several photographs of John Muir are prominently displayed in the lobby, as a tribute to the noted author and naturalist who fought to preserve Kings Canyon for future generations. Grant Grove Cabins

There are nine rustic cabins with private baths, open year-round at Grant Grove Village. An additional 24 rustic cabins and 18 tent cabins, with a central bathhouse, are available to guests during the summer months. Most cabins accommodate up to four people in two double beds. Cedar Grove Lodge

This small, quiet lodge on the Kings River, deep in the heart of Kings Canyon, offers 21 motel rooms from early May though early October. Guests can hike to nearby Zumwalt Meadow, North Dome, Grand Sentinel and several waterfalls from this location. Each of the 18 standard guest-rooms has two queen beds, while the three patio rooms have one queen bed and an outdoor patio near the river. The lodge has a gift shop, snack bar and market. Other Lodging Options

Located in the Giant Sequoia National Monument, between Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks, Stony Creek Lodge offers 11 motel rooms with private baths. The building is constructed of river rock and timber, and features a stone fireplace, restaurant, market and outdoor dining patio. Open early May through early October. Other overnight accommodations are located in Three Rivers and other towns on Highway 180 and Highway 198. Silver City Resort, a private inholding near Mineral King within Sequoia National Park, has cabins, food, groceries and pay showers. Silver City is open from Memorial Day until Thanksgiving.

Several lodging options are available in neighboring Sequoia National Forest, including Montecito-Sequoia Lodge. Located on Generals Highway 10 miles south of Grant Grove, this family-oriented resort offers views of the Great Western Divide. DINING

In Kings Canyon, dining options range from deli food to complete dinners. KCPS operates the dining facilities at Kings Canyon.

Kings Canyon National Park

Grant Grove Village Restaurant offers family-friendly dining with American fare in a casual setting. The restaurant is located in the lodge registration building and is open year-round, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. For more information, please call (559) 335-5500.

Other Dining Options

In the Giant Sequoia National Monument, between Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, the Stony Creek Lodge (summer only) offers casual dining in the restaurant, as well as outdoor dining on the patio.
