Crawford State Park

Rich in history and spectacular scenery, Crawford State Park has a flavor all its own. This southeast Kansas treasure, located 9 miles north of Girard in Crawford County, resides on a 150-acre lake built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930's. The park dedicated a trail in 2005 to the CCC members who built the lake. This trail hosts a statue and items of historical importance honoring their achievement. There are two recorded archaeological sites within the park's boundaries, including remnants of a 19th-century U. S. military outpost. An interpretive trail connects the park with the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks' Farlington Fish Hatchery, which was built shortly after the CCC completed construction of the lake.
