Kaw River State Park is the newest and only urban park to join the state park system. The park comprises 76 acres of land on the south bank of the Kansas (nicknamed Kaw) River in west Topeka. Take advantage because Kaw River State Park is the only free park in Kansas. There are 8 miles of trails for various recreation and skill levels, including walking, hiking, running and mountain biking. Enjoy the Kansas River from the boat launch where people primarily canoe or kayak. The park is day-use only and is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
