Cumberland Falls State Resort Park
Cumberland Falls State Resort Park is located in south central Kentucky. It is home to Cumberland Falls, known as the Niagara of the South. This magnificent waterfall is approximately 125 feet in width and plunges about 60 feet into a boulder-strewn gorge. On certain occasions, when the conditions are right, its mist creates a unique phenomenon known as a moonbow. Its similar to a rainbow, but it occurs only at night and only during a full moon - and its actually a spectrum of color created by the moons reflection off of the mist (an arch of light will be visible at the base of the falls and will continue downstream). Its well worth a visit to Cumberland Falls State Resort Park just to witness this magical moonbow, for it happens nowhere else in the Western Hemisphere.
