Overview

Yatesville Lake provides plenty of room to skim the waves or catch some rays in your favorite cruisecraft, be it a houseboat, pontoon, speed boat or jet ski. The Yatesville Marina offers everything boaters and fishers need for lake fun. Relax in the scenic lakeside setting of the park's 47 site campground. Yatesville Lake State Park is proud to present its newest facility: the Eagle Ridge Golf Course. Completed in 2003, the Eagle Ridge Golf Course is an 18 hole, 71 par delight. Adams Cabin, located in the Project's Information Center, was built in the mid-nineteenth century. It was originally located on a Blaine Creek farmstead of several hundred acres with a household of eleven people. When the lake was being constructed, the house was documented and removed. A Wicket Dam Exhibit is located in the Project's Information Center.

Activities

  • Boating

    The park hosts two launch ramps (one at the marina, one at the campground) for better access to the lake. Yatesville Lake is well known for its cleanliness. The average depth of the lake is 40 feet. Kentucky fishing license required.

  • Bicycling

    The Yatesville Lake Multi Use Trail This is a large, 20+ mile trail located near the campground area that is open to hikers, backpackers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders alike. This public trail is not on Yatesville Lake State Park property.

  • Camping

    Relax in the scenic lakeside setting of the park's 47 site campground. Opened in 1999, the Pleasant Ridge Campgrounds has 27 full hook up campsites and 20 primitive campsites-16 "boat in" sites and 4 "hike in" sites. The campground also has a playground facility, nature trails, laundry room, restrooms & showers, and a dump station.

    The "boat in" sites are maintained by a service road and three restroom facilities are spaced alongside. The sites are only accessible via boat, but the seclusion and lakeside access are worth it! The "hike-in" sites are in the regular campground but set back into the woods with no electricity. The setting pays off in communion with nature. The campground also has the park system's first double RV campsites in which two recreational vehicles may park side by side. The Yatesville Campground was named among the best campgrounds in all of Kentucky and Tennessee by the Menasha Ridge Press.

  • Fishing

    An ADA-compliant fishing getty and scenic fishing lagoon may be found at the marina area. The Yatesville Lake is highly regarded for its bluegill, crappie, and bass fishing.

  • Golfing

    Yatesville Lake State Park is proud to present its newest facility: the Eagle Ridge Golf Course. Completed in 2003, the Eagle Ridge Golf Course is an 18 hole, par 71 delight. The course, built on mountainous terrain, features dramatic views.

    Eagle Ridge also houses a fully equipped pro shop to provide for golfers' needs such as food & drink, souvenir items, rental clubs, and golfing equipment. Golf packages and season passes are offered. Tee time reservations are accepted. Open Year Round.

  • Hiking

    There is plenty of opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors on several trails for all levels. The Mary Ingles Trail System- Both a Community Millennium Trail and a National Recreation Trail, this trail is located at the marina area. The MITS is made up of six separate trail loops. Three rugged, wooded hiking trails, two exercise paths, and one ADA self interpretive nature trail.

    The Pleasant Ridge Trail System- This trail is made up of five separate trails. Each trail is a wooded nature trail that extends through the campground area towards the Yatesville Lake.

    The Yatesville Lake Multi Use Trail- This is a large, 20+ mile trail located near the campground area that is open to hikers, backpackers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders alike. This public trail is not on Yatesville Lake State Park property.

    The 19th Hole Trail- This is a short, well paved nature trail located near the Eagle Ridge Golf Course.

  • Picnicking

    The picnic pavilion at Yatesville Lake includes two picnic shelters, a playground area, volleyball, grill, water, and a lakeside setting. The large shelter can hold up to 10 picnic tables while the smaller shelter is often used as an entertainment stage. Reservations are accepted up to one year in advance.

  • RVing

    Many state parks are equipped with RV hookups, making the unsurpassed natural beauty of these public refuges accessible to you while you stay in the comfort of your own vehicle. RV camping is available.

  • Water Sports

    A public beach area equipped with playgrounds, restrooms & showers, and a snack bar is located near the marina.

Seasonality/Weather

Summers are hot and humid with temperatures ranging from night time lows 60's to mid 70's; day time highs from upper 80's to mid 90's. Winters are cold with night time lows ranging from low 20's to low 30's; day time highs from mid 20's to upper 30's. Extreme highs can reach 100 degree Fahrenheit; extreme lows can drop to zero degree F., these temperatures are rare. Spring and fall seasons are beautiful in Kentucky with mild temperatures.

Driving

The Park's marina area and campgrounds/golfcourse are about 15 miles driving distance apart. To get to the marina, take US 23 toward Louisa, then 3 miles west on KY 3 to KY 1185. KY 1185 ends at the park marina. To get to the campgrounds or the Eagle Ridge Golf Course, take US 23 toward Louisa, then 5 miles west on KY 32. Take KY 32 West to KY 3215 which will lead directly to the campgrounds and/or the golf course.
