Massasoit State Park
Overview
This heavily wooded park, minutes from Interstate Route 495, offers abundant beauty and many opportunities for recreation. Four lakes provide excellent fishing. Biking, canoeing, walking, hiking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing are popular activities. In the fall the contrast of scarlet cranberry bogs against the pines is breathtaking.

Boating
Canoes and other non-motorized boats can access the four lakes by way of a boat ramp on Middleboro Avenue.

Mountain bikers can explore the many trails through the park.
Fishing
Four lakes provide excellent fishing.

Horseback Riding
Miles of designated bridle trails wind through the park. Bridle trail parking is just off Turner St.
Hunting
Restricted hunting is available; inquire for details.
RVing
Massasoit is also a favorite of trailer campers, with most of its 123 campsites provided with electrical or water hookups.
NOTE: Campers should note that the campground at Massasoit State Park will be closed for the 2010 season, as the electric system servicing the campground is in need of repair. Although Massasoit's campground is closed in 2010, please keep in mind that other state park camping opportunities are available in the southeast region of the state. Both Myles Standish State Forest and Scusset Beach State Reservation are accepting reservations for the 2010 season.

Cross-country skiing is a popular activity in winter.

Campground office hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Camping season runs from late April through Columbus Day.

Driving
Massasoit State Park is located in south-eastern Massachusetts.
From Cape Cod or Worcester: Take Rte. 495 to Exit 5 in Middleborough. Take Rte. 18 South to the first intersection where there is a yellow flashing light. Turn right onto Taunton Street which becomes Middleboro Ave.. Park entrance will be on the left, about 2.5 miles from flashing light.
From Boston: Take Rte. 24 south - Rte. 44 east. At first traffic light, turn right onto South St. E.. Follow to end. Turn left onto Middleboro Ave. Continue about 2 miles to Park entrance on the right.
From Fall River/Providence: Take Rte. 195 East - Rte. 24 North - Rte. 44 East. At first traffic light, turn right onto South St. E.. Follow to end. Turn left onto Middleboro Ave. Continue about 2 miles to Park entrance on the right.
