The McKenzie River Special Recreation Management Area stretches along the McKenzie River from Nimrod to Hendricks Bridge and includes over 1,300 acres of public lands intermixed with mostly residential private properties. This river reach contains several Class 2 boating oportunities and Marten Rapids, a popular Class 3 whitewater boating attraction. Boaters and anglers should be aware that the McKenzie River is cold, so visitors should protect themselves from too much exposure.
