Sourdough Ridge Nature Trail

This short trail leads visitors in a one mile loop that gains 280 feet in elevation as it describes the landscape components of the area. Begin the hike from the northwestern corner of the Sunrise parking area. The route leads north along a paved trail for a short distance to a trailhead map. Here you'll find a pamphlet that leads you along the Sourdough Ridge interpretive nature trail. Shortly after the area map the trail forks. Follow the right side of the fork, which leads to interpretive sites one through seven. After interpretive site seven the trail forks again. Turn left here following the Sourdough Ridge Trail westward for nearly one half mile. The last leg of the nature trail begins at a fork in the trail after interpretive sign number 13. Turn left at this trail fork and begin hiking south toward the Sunrise complex. The trailhead is only one quarter mile from this fork. When you are finished return the interpretive brochure to the trailhead.
