This trail forms a half mile loop through a wet meadow and dense forest across the Longmire - Paradise Road from Longmire Complex. Several interpretive sites lie along the course of this path. The history of these sites pertains to the Longmire settlement period of the park. James Longmire came to the region in the nineteenth century, spotted the mineral springs and decided to open a spa. He built a hotel and homestead and developed the area around a few of the springs. A brochure available at the trailhead details the events of Longmire's life in the area and describes the evidence of his occupancy that remains along the route. The flora and fauna of the site are also described in the brochure.
