Hell Creek State Park
Overview
You'll reach this campground park, 25 miles north of Jordan, through the spectacular scenery of the Missouri Breaks landscape. On the Hell Creek Arm of Fort Peck Lake, this park provides facilities for most water sports as well as excellent walleye fishing. According to the World Almanac, Fort Peck Dam, MT is the largest embankment dam in the United States with the fifth-largest man-made reservoir. The vast size of Fort Peck Lake and its remoteness from major population centers provides a variety of high quality outdoor experiences including camping, boating, fishing, hunting, sightseeing, and wildlife viewing. Hell Creek also serves as a launching point for boat camping in the wild and scenic Missouri Breaks. The campground has a camp host, fire rings/grills, picnic tables, and a playground. Facilities with running water -- a fish cleaning station, RV dump station, drinking water, showers, and flush toilets -- are open May 15 to October 15.
Activities
Boating
Fort Peck Lake provides a great venue for boating in motorized or non-motorized boats. Hell Creek State Park provides access to the lake with a ramp, marina, dock, and hand launch.
Bicycling
Explore the area by bicycling on designated trails.
Camping
The campground has a camp host, fire rings/grills, picnic tables, and a playground. Facilities with running water -- a fish cleaning station, RV dump station, drinking water, showers, and flush toilets -- are open May 15 to October 15.
Fishing
On the Hell Creek Arm of Fort Peck Lake, this park is excellent for walleye fishing.
Hiking
Hiking trails and an interpretive trail allow visitors to explore the area on foot.
Picnicking
A sheltered picnic area with grills and fire rings is a great place for visitors to enjoy meals. Facilities with running water -- a fish cleaning station, RV dump station, drinking water, showers, and flush toilets -- are open May 15 to October 15.
RVing
The campground includes RVing amenities such as electric hookups and a dump station, available mid-January through mid-November. Facilities with running water are open May 15 to October 15.
Water Sports
On the Hell Creek Arm of Fort Peck Lake, this park provides facilities for most water sports, including boating, swimming, and water skiing.
Wildlife Watching
The vast size of Fort Peck Lake and its remoteness from major population centers provides for great wildlife viewing
Winter Sports
In the winter months, nordic skiing is a popular pastime in the park.
