Mall Makeover Proposals Heard and Seen at Hearing

March 16, 2009, 9:06 am

Millions of feet trample across the National Mall every year, putting it in dire need of a makeover, and the National Park Service is listening to your ideas on what should be done.

If you have been to the National Mall recently, you have probably seen some of the obvious signs of wear and tear. The grass is warn down in some places and some of the monuments look neglected, even the Reflecting Pool has seen better days.

Twenty-five million visitors visit the Mall each year, making it one of D.C.'s biggest tourist draws.

"We like to show it off as just a great recreational spot and experience; plus the memorials and things like that," said Bethesda resident Glen Sweet.
