Overview

One of eastern Nebraska's most popular recreation areas, Fremont has about 40 land acres and nearly 300 water acres in 20 sandpit lakes. Located three miles west of Fremont, this is a favorite area with campers, picnickers and water enthusiasts - from boating to fishing to water skiing. The swimming beach is unsupervised, and there is a PWC area, as well as a handicap accessible fishing pier. Thousands of campers, anglers, boaters, swimmers, picnickers and other enthusiasts enjoy the outdoor recreation at Fremont Lakes State Recreation Area. Few areas offer more diversified recreation. Facilities include modern campgrounds with dump stations, picnic tables, shelter houses, fireplaces, playground equipment, water, lights, modern restrooms and boat launch sites. Fremont Lakes is composed of 20 sandpit lakes that provide a place for just about any type of activity. The areas features three swimming beaches. The area also has a specially redesigned lake for use by personal water craft (PWC). A ramp has been installed to allow the PWCs to back into the water, and two new picnic/viewing shelters have been added to the PWC beach.

Activities

  • Boating

    All kinds of boating is available at the park. There are six boat ramps and three docks available for visitor use.

  • Camping

    Fremont State Recreation Area's campgrounds offer hardsurfaced pads, situated among mature shade trees. Modern shower/latrine buildings and drinking water are conveniently located. There are showers, trailer dump stations and water are available. In total there are 200 camping pads with electrical hookups (20/30-amp.), 12 non-pad sites with electrical hookups and 600 non-pad sites without electricity. All campers must register.

  • Fishing

    There is plenty of fishing opportunity in the park.

  • Picnicking

    Five shelters provide plenty of picnicking: 241 tables and 245 grills.

  • RVing

The area also has a specially redesigned lake for use by personal water craft (PWC). Enjoy waterskiing or tubing in the park. There are no lifeguards on duty.

Directions

Driving

Any guests coming from the north, east, or south go west of Fremont 2 miles on Hwy #30, and then head south at county road #19 into the park. Guests coming from the west will turn right or south on county road #19 into the park two miles west of Fremont.
