Pibel Lake State Recreation Area
Overview
Pibel Lake is a hidden, secluded oasis on the edge of the Sandhills where large cottonwood trees lean over a quiet, spring-fed lake. There is an abundance of wildlife and a healthy population of growing fish in the newly renovated lake.
Pibel Lake is a 72-acre(48 acres of land and a 24-acre lake) state recreation area set in a small valley hidden from the highway. The lake was recently renovated and stocked with bluegills, largemouth bass and channel catfish. A boat dock for smaller boats has also been added. This area offers primitive camping, no wake boating, picnicking and a playground.
Activities
Boating
All types of boats are allowed but there is a no-wake, 5-mph limit. One ramp and a dock for smaller boats are available.
Camping
Pibel Lake offers primitive camping on thirty sites without electricity. Water is available from hand pumps but there is no dump station or modern restroom available.
Fishing
The lake was recently renovated and stocked with bluegills, largemouth bass and channel catfish. A boat dock for smaller boats also has been added.
Picnicking
The area offers a playground and picnicking, with a total of 53 picnic tables and 10 grills.

Pibel Lake SRA is located 1 mile east of U.S. Highway 281 and 9 miles south of Bartlett in Wheeler County.
