Overview

Located in close proximity to the White Mountain Region shopping mecca of North Conway, Echo Lake is a great place to take the family for a swim and picnic. Amenities offered at the park include a bathhouse and picnic tables. A scenic trail around the lake provides great views of sheer, 700-foot Cathedral Ledge which towers over the lake. A mile-long auto road and hiking trails lead to the top of Cathedral Ledge where views across the Saco River Valley to the White Mountains can be enjoyed. Both Cathedral and nearby White Horse ledges are popular rock and ice climbing walls.

Sparkling clear Echo Lake is located in the middle of the 118-acre park and visitors can, on clear days, soak up fantastic views of Mt. Lafayette and Cannon Mountain. Canoeists, kayakers, anglers, and swimmers are able to take advantage of Echo Lake and amenities like a bathhouse and picnic tables.

Pets are not permitted in Echo Lake State Park.

    Cathedral Ledge(elevation 1155 ft.) an amazing granite crag is a popular hike located just north of Echo Lake or pick up the trail a short distance from The Eastern Slope Inn.

    Echo Lake is a great place to take the family or friends for a picnic. Spectacular views and a swimming beach add to the fun, scenic atmosphere.

    Swimmers can enjoy the sparkling clear waters of Echo Lake. A bathhouse and picnic tables are located here for the convenience of visitors. Visitors may check upon arrival for the lifeguard schedule.

  • Winter Sports

    Both Cathedral and White Horse ledges are popular ice climbing walls.

Seasonality/Weather

The gate at Cathedral Ledge is closed seasonally. This park is always open for recreation. During the off-season the park is typically not staffed and comfort stations are not available. The Park is open weekends and holidays from late May but is open daily from the middle of June until Labor Day.

Driving

From I-93: Exit 23 onto Route 104 East. Follow Route 104 east to Route 25 North. Turn left onto NH 16 North to North Conway. Follow signs to Echo Lake State Park off River Road.

From I-95: Take Route 16 North to North Conway and turn left onto River Road. Follow signs to Echo Lake State Park.
