Atsion Recreation Area

Atsion Recreation Area is located in in the western section of Wharton State Forest on Route 206 in Shamong Township. Atsion Recreation Area is especially popular with families during the summer. It is one of two developed camping areas within the forest, which offers lake swimming, public beach, bathroom and changing facilities, picnic facilities, a playground and more opportunities to explore Pine Barrens trails. Nine cabins, accommodating from four to eight people, are situated along the northern shore of Atsion Lake. A total of 50 tent and trailer sites are located within the park. Swimming facilities are available and only permitted when lifeguards are on duty
