Friends of Elephant Butte Lake State Park
Get involved and support Elephant Butte Lake State Park by becoming a Friend. The Friends of Elephant Butte Lake State Park is a non-profit organization dedicated to “volunteering time, services, and fund raising to promote and support Elephant Butte Lake State Park.” Meetings are open to the public and held the 2nd Monday of every month in the Boating Safety Training Center.

Here are just a few of the things they do:

Independence Day Celebration Fireworks
Join us for the spectacular display of patriotic plumes blooming in the night sky from Rattlesnake Island as their splendor is mirrored in a boat speckled cove of Elephant Butte Lake. Your fund raising and marketing skills will contribute to the coordination of New Mexico’s largest fireworks display.

Brown Bag Program Series
Bring your lunch and come out on the 3rd Thursday of every month to learn from an expert about some new aspect of the natural and cultural history of our region. Past topics have included the Butterfield Overland Trail, Bats, and even the Weather on Mars. The Friends sponsor the event and can use your help to invite future speakers.

Fall Festival
Join the Friends of Elephant Butte Lake State Park for this annual family event. Meet on the last Saturday of October at the Boating Safety Training Center for games, snacks, and educational presentations. Lots of volunteer help is needed planning the event as well as to facilitate games and activities.
