Overview

Nothing but the foundations remains today, but with imagination you can visualize what was once there. When the silver boom began in Virginia City, Gold Hill, and Silver City, a place was needed to process the ore and free the precious metals. The Rock Point Mill was once used to process the rich silver ore. Remnants of the mill are still visible within Dayton State Park, just west of U.S. 50 . The Carson River, which changes with the seasons, flows through the park and offers fishing and bird watching. Picnicking, camping, and group use facilities are available at this park.
