Brushy Lake State Park is a great scenic getaway located in the scenic wooded Cookson Hills of eastern Oklahoma. The park offers visitors a quiet, secluded recreation destination with camping, picnicking, fishing and boating. Visitors will enjoy eating relaxing outdoor meals in the park's eight day-use picnic areas, which are equipped with tables and grills, as well as at the park's several group shelters, which have electricity. Overnight visitors will enjoy the 23 concrete camping sites, which include RV sites with full electric and water services. Comfort stations with showers and playgrounds are also located near the park's camping and picnic areas. Those who wish to venture out onto the lake can make use of the park's lighted boat ramp, as well as several boat and fishing docks. Once visitor's have exhausted all the possibilities within Brushy Lake State Park, they can still easily access the numerous other area attractions and several highways which are conveniently located near the park.

  • Boating

    The Brushy Creek Reservoir borders the park and offers ample opportunities for boating.

  • Camping

    Brushy Lake State Park offers RV camping on 23 concrete camping sites, with access to electricity and water.

  • Fishing

    Fisherman will enjoy fishing in the Brushy Creek Reservoir, which borders the park.

  • Historic Sites

    Several sites of historic and cultural interest are located in the area near Brushy Lake State Park, such as Sequoya's Cabin, the Cherokee National Heritage Center, and the Spiro Mounds Archaeological Center.

  • Picnicking

    Several picnic areas and lighted picnic pavilions are scattered throughout the park and offer beautiful views of the reservoir.

  • RVing

    RV campsites and a dump site are offered by Brush Lake State Park. Electric service (Elec. 30 Amp and Elec. 50 Amp), water service and comfort stations with showers are also available.


During the winter, only seven RV sites with utilities remain open, and all other sites are winterized. In addition, the light above the boat ramp is turned off during the winter and the picnic shelters and large bathroom are also closed.



Brushy Lake State Park is located eight miles north of Sallisaw off of Highway 17 and Maple Street.
