Overview

Ever wonder "Where the Red Fern Grows"? See for yourself why this beautiful natural wonder was chosen as the setting for the delightful movie. Natural Falls State Park is perfect for a day, a weekend, or a week.

Located in northeast Oklahoma in the scenic Ozark Highlands region, Natural Falls State Park features a 77-foot waterfall cascading through rock formations, and creating a hidden, serene atmosphere at the bottom of a narrow V-shaped valley. An observation platform with a nearby picnic pavilion overlooks the falls. Picnic tables and grills can be found throughout the park, and campsites, 44 RV sites, some with full hookups, 27 tent sites and a comfort station with showers is on site. The Red Fern Reunion Center is available for group functions or Carnes Outdoor Shelter. Other amenities offer a one and a half mile hiking and nature trail, shelter, volleyball, horseshoes and basketball court, catch and release fishing, playgrounds, formal garden area and pets allowed on leash only.

    Natural Falls State Park offers a three-and-a-half mile hiking and nature trail and stunning views of the park's waterfall. Natural Falls State Park affords an opportunity to observe a variety of plant and animal life. The dense forest includes maples, chinquapin and white oaks, while plants such as flowering dogwood, sassafras, coral berry, spicebush, redbed, and pawpaw blanket the cool forest floor. The waterfall creates a moist environment where ferns, mosses, and liverworts thrive.

    Picnicking throughout the park is a great way for visitors to relax and enjoy the natural setting.

  • RVing

    RV users will full hookups and a dump site in the park.

Seasonality/Weather

The mini comfort station near the falls area is closed from November to March.

Natural Falls State Park is located six miles west of West Siloam Springs on Highway 412 and 1/8 mile south of Highway 412.
