Dexter State Recreation Site
Overview
Zipping down Highway 58 east of Eugene, you'll suddenly find yourself on driving along side a long, skinny reservoir. In spring, summer and fall, the Dexter and Lookout Point Reservoirs are dotted with boats. Whether you like to fish or boat, you'll find a pair of convenient day-use parks on the lake. Dexter State Recreation Site, on the western edge of Dexter Reservoir, not only has a large parking area and convenient access to the reservoir, but you can reach nearby Elijah Bristow State Park through a system of connecting trails. An 18-hole disc golf course is now open at the park. There is no drinking water at this park.
Activities
Boating
The park offers boaters a launching area, boat trailer parking for 70 vehicles and a courtesy dock just south of a shoreline picnic area. Sailing and power boating are both popular.
Fishing
Area anglers know the park as a great place to hook small large-mouth bass, crappie, and trout. A popular salmon fishing spot is just below Dexter Dam.
Golfing
An 18-hole disc golf course is now open at the park (get the disk golf scorecard and map). Many visitors come here to play disc golf on a challenging 18-hole course carved through the park's woodlands. It's free, but donations are welcome.
