Percha Diversion Dam
Overview
Set in the intimate shade of towering cottonwoods, salt cedar and Russian olive trees, is the beautiful Percha Diversion Dam and State Park. This scenic area features camping, swimming, picnicking, fishing and bird watching right along the Rio Grande. Among the area's best bird-watching locales, many different migratory species can be seen particularly during spring and autumn migration seasons.
Activities
Camping
The developed campsites in the surrounding park are spacious, shady, and serene, and most are close enough to hear the river.
Fishing
Excellent fishing can be done along the Rio Grande.
Hiking
The park has no designated hiking trails, just paths leading to favorite fishing and bird-watching spots.
Picnicking
There are picnic tables and grills available within the state park.
Water Sports
Swimming is available.
Seasonality/Weather
Autumn and spring are a great time to view migratory birds.
