Nestled in the rugged foothills of the Blue Ridge, adjoining Fairy Stone State Park. The clear water and natural shoreline make Philpott Lake a unique place to visit. Over 6,000 acres of surrounding land, 3,000 acres of water, and a power plant make up Philpott Project located in portions of Franklin, Henry and Patrick counties. Canoe to camp sites on Deer Island.

  • Boating

    Boat ramps are available. The rules and regulations governing boat use are available at the Visitor Assistance Center near the dam, and are enforced by the Corps and Commonwealth of Virginia.

  • Camping

    Philpott Lake has a number of campsites that meet the needs of all types of campers.

  • Fishing

    Fishing is permitted, but for reasons of public safety, fishing is not allowed in the restricted area near the dam.

  • Hiking

    A number of hiking trails are available for your enjoyment. The Philpott Lake Trail System is one of the many trail systems developed in recent years.

  • Hunting

    Hunting is permitted, but hunting and firearms are prohibited in public recreation areas as well as areas near the dam and other project structures and facilities.

  • Picnicking

    Picnic areas are available throughout the park.

  • RVing

  • Water Sports

    Boating and fishing are popular water sports.
