Picacho Peak State Park
Picacho Peak State Park is a popular area for camping, fishing, desert exploring and river running. Birdwatching and small game hunting for quail, doves and ducks are among other favorite activities at this recreation area.
There are five campgrounds and two boat launch ramps, with two lanes each. The park also has a group camping area (50 person), a group boat-in area (50 person), and three individual boat-in camp areas. There are five ramadas and two large picnic areas as well. Restroom facilities include showers.
The new Picacho Peak State Park Visitor Center rates Silver on the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. It features public restrooms, a gift shop, plus vending machines with energy drinks and snacks. Hours vary, but are typically 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Interpretive exhibits are being developed and will installed soon.
