Opportunities for sightseers and nature lovers are many at Pine Creek. The forest resources of the project are managed to improve the scenic quality of the park areas and adjoining land and create additional interest in trails for hiking, horseback riding, and exploration. Fishermen will love Pine Creek Lakes numerous and abundant species of fish. Principal species include crappie, white bass, largemouth bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish and various sunfish. The shoreline length is 74 miles. Most of the project lands around Pine Creek Lake are open seasonally for public hunting. The Department of Wildlife supervises 10,280 acres as a game management area.

For camping and picnicking enthusiasts, developed parks along the lake shoreline offer boat launching ramps, fireplaces, picnic tables, RV sites, tent campsites, sanitary facilities, playgrounds, and parking areas. In addition, numerous historic sites exist near Pine Creek Lake, which tell the rich and varied history of the area surrounding the lake.

  • Boating

    Boating is available at Little River Park, Lost Rapids Park, Pine Creek Cove, and Turkey Creek Park.

  • Camping

    The park offers 67 non-electrical and 126 electrical campsites in 4 campgrounds, which are all open year-round. Several groups sites are also available.

  • Fishing

    The high ratio of shoreline length to water area at Pine Creek Lake is conducive to good fish production. Principal fish species include crappie, white bass, largemouth bass, channel catfish, flathead catfish, and various sunfish.

  • Hiking

    Little River Park offers a trailhead.

  • Hunting

    Hunting is allowed in the public lands around Pine Creek Lake which are managed by the Department of Wildlife.

  • Picnicking

    Picnickers will find ample opportunities to enjoy rustic, outdoor meals in the developed parks around Pine Creek Lake.

  • Water Sports

    Swimming is available at Little River Park and Pine Creek Cove.
