Park, oyster grower agree to terms

After years of wrangling, Marin's largest oyster grower and the National Park Service have reached an agreement that resolves many of their long-standing differences, but leaves a key conflict unsettled.

"Both sides are very happy to have the document signed so that we can move forward," said John Dell'Osso, chief of interpretation for the Point Reyes National Seashore.

But the deal doesn't address the biggest point of contention between the two parties - whether Drakes Bay Family Farms will be able to continue operations within the seashore beyond the expiration of its lease in 2012. The National Park Service has insisted the company's Drakes Estero site will be restored as a wilderness preserve.
