Prior Flat Campground
This campground is at the foot of the Shirley Mountains, a remote range in a large basin between the Medicine Bow and the Ferris Mountains. The Shirley Mountains offer fantastic hunting opportunities and fishing in Sage Creek. Aspen, limber pine, lodgepole pine, big sagebrush, shrubs, grasses and forbs make up the nearby vegetation. Pronghorn, mule deer, elk, coyotes, grouse, and golden eagles will wow the wildlife watching enthusiasts.
15 campsites and a vault toilet on about 9 acres. 1 pull-through. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring/grill, and parking spur.
Fishing is allowed. Follow Wyoming regulations.
Hunting is allowed. Follow Wyoming regulations.
Picnic areas are in the campground.
June 1 - Nov 15 typical, but County Road 102 and BLM Road 3115 are impassable after heavy rain and snow melt because both get extremely muddy.
From Leo (north of Kortes Dam), go south 1 mile on BLM Road 3112 then east 13.5 miles on the Leo-Shirley Basin Road (County Road 102). From Medicine Bow, take Wyo 487 north approximately 21 miles and turn left onto Wyo 77. Follow Wyo 77 about 9 miles and take County Road 102 west for about 9 miles to the Shirley Mountain Loop Road (BLM Road 3115). Campground is just up the hill about 1/4 mile.
