I noticed the grand canyon of Yellowstone NP has yellow stone. Is this where the park got it's name? If not, then how did it?

The name "Yellowstone" sounds like it should certainly come from the aptly colored volcanic rock in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. Good thought. However, the name in fact comes from the "Yellowstone River" which flows 670 miles from the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem in Wyoming. Country," the core of which would one day give birth to the world's first national park.
