Tioga Road in Yosemite National Park closes due to snow, usually from sometime in November through late May or early June. The road closure extends from the Tuolumne Grove, just east of Crane Flat, to Tioga Pass Entrance Station. (Highway 120, the continuation of the Tioga Road outside the park, is often closed in winter from Tioga Pass to five miles east of Lee Vining.)

The opening date varies from year to year but is usually in mid- to late May. To get a better idea, check out this list of Tioga Road opening and closing dates since 1980.

As your trip approaches, check the Tioga Road plowing update online. Updates begin April 15. Also, you can check the current status of all park roads online or by calling (209) 372-0200 (press 1 then 1) for the most up-to-date conditions.
