You don't need a reservation to drive through the park, though you will have to pay an entry fee.  Consider to by an America The Beautiful pass, which will give you a full year of access to all federal public lands for only $80 for the whole family.  It's a bargain if you're planning to visit multiple parks (which I highly recommend).  Also, there's tons to see while driving through the park, so try to make time for several stops along the way. Check out our site for more information on Yellowstone and please don't hesitate to follow up with more specific questions.  Depending on which way you're driving, I recommend a visit to the Old Faithful Inn area, as well as the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, two very popular destinations that are just steps off the road. Have a great trip!
