Good news! The South Rim is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All visitor services: camping, lodging and restaurants are available year-round.

You should definitely explore Bright Angel Trail – it’s amazing how much warmer it can be inside the canyon than at ground level. Also take advantage of the park’s free shuttle bus system operates in the Grand Canyon Village area, which will take you to many of the park’s most treasured sights.

As for lodging, we love the classic old El Tovar Hotel. But there are lots of other great options, too.

The North Rim, however, may likely be closed by the time you visit. During winter months, the road to the North Rim, Highway 67, is often closed due to snow. When this road is closed, the North Rim is generally closed too. You can find details about winter on the North Rim here.
