Diamonds in the Sky—Midnight Fireworks over Grand Lake
December 5, 2008, 9:54 pm
Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the annual Diamonds in the Sky midnight fireworks show over Grand Lake, Colorado. View the fireworks over Colorado’s largest natural lake from this mountain village situated just outside Rocky Mountain National Park.
At this annual display, pyrotechnists launch fireworks from trailers on the frozen lake, in front of the majestic mountain backdrop. Locals recommend the lakeside for the best views, but Grand Lake Fireworks Organization Chairwoman and Treasurer Doris Braun warned of chilly winter temperatures. She suggests keeping warm and celebrating at a local restaurant, pub or hotel until midnight, when you can sneak outside to watch the fireworks.
“Grand Lake is a small town, and you can see the fireworks from almost anywhere,” she said. For those who’d rather stay warm indoors, Braun said visitors can even see the fireworks from inside many waterfront hotels and restaurants.
The fireworks show starts promptly at midnight on New Year’s Eve. For a full calendar of events in the community, visit http://www.grandlakechamber.com/.
