Did you know that many national parks have special programs for young people ages 7 to 11 that help them understand more about their local parks and how they can help protect these resources? These programs are called Junior Ranger programs.

Would you like to help take care of your National Parks and learn more about the special things at the park you are visiting?

Ask a ranger at for a free Junior Ranger workbook when you arrive at Russell Cave. Complete the activities during your visit, and receive an official Russell Cave certificate and Junior Ranger Badge!

You can collect Junior Ranger badges from almost every park you visit.

Junior Ranger Program

A Junior Ranger Program is available for children up to twelve years old. Complete the junior ranger activities during your visit and receive an official Russell Cave Junior Ranger badge and certificate from a Park Ranger.


The Museum area contains information about the history of the cave and replicas of artifacts that were found in the cave excavations. Learn about the people who lived in the Cave Shelter 9000 years ago.

There are several movies that are available to watch during your visit. These movies describe the lifeways of the people who lived at Russell Cave and the cave system itself.
