Haunted Happenings: Spend a Spooky Weekend in Salem

October 16, 2009, 10:36 am
Spend a spooky weekend in Salem, Massachusetts at the month-long Haunted Happenings, an annual Halloween festival in the bewitching seaport of Salem, Massachusetts! The month is chock-full of events, museums, attractions, shops, haunted houses and fantastic dining.

On Saturday, October 17, stop by Salem Maritime National Historic Site for a wide variety of Halloween-themed, family-friendly activities.  Kids who dress up in national park-inspired costumes (including people, objects and animals!) will receive admission to a hands-on Shipwright workshop, where they’ll get to use authentic shipbuilding tools and learn about the process of shipbuilding in the nineteenth century. There will also be an arts and crafts station where kids can make their own toy wooden boat to take home. Check out our list of Top 10 Creepy Critters for costume ideas!

If you don’t make it to Salem this weekend, there will be plenty more Haunted Happenings events in town throughout the month of October! A full schedule is available online.
