Things To Know Before You Come

The park is still in the developmental stage. Food, lodging, and other services are available in Christiansted, Frederiksted, and at other island locations. There are no campsites at Salt River Bay. St. Croix has one private campground at Mount Victory on the island’s west end.

Operating Hours & Seasons

The Visitor Center at Salt River Bay is open November through June. The hours are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. When the Visitor Center is closed, information may be obtained at the National Park Service visitor contact station at Fort Christianvaern, Christiansted National Historic Site. The hours are 8:00 am to 4:45 pm Monday through Friday and 9:00 am to 4:45 pm on weekends and holidays. Park staff may be available for scheduled tours of Salt River Bay NHS & EP. Those wishing to visit may contact Rangers at (340) 773-1460 two weeks in advance. Rangers will do their best to meet the request.

Fees & Reservations

There are no entrance fees at the park. Entrance is free. To schedule a Ranger guided tour for a group, contact Park Staff at 340-773-1460 at least two weeks in advance. Rangers will do their best to meet the request.


There are several air carriers to St Croix arriving at the Henry E. Rohlesen Airport. The park is five miles from Christiansted National Historic Site and can be reached by car via Rt. 75 from Christiansted, connecting to Route 80. Cars may be rented at the airport and various other island locations. Ask your lodging hosts for information about guided land tours.
