Sand Wash Recreation Area
Overview
Primitive campground is convenient for those who plan to put in to Labyrinth Canyon the next day. Motorized vehicle use permitted on area roads and trails. Other recreation opportunities that are enjoyed in this area include hunting, rock hounding, and viewing wild horses or other wildlife.

Off Highway Vehicles
OHV use is permitted on area roads and trails. Check with the local office for regulations and conditions.
Wildlife Watching
The most dramatic wildlife in the area is a sizable wild horse population. Among the most common are grey and sorrel, although most colors and color patterns can be found, including buckskins, duns and paint. Genetic analysis indicates the highest similarity for the herd was to the Iberian derived Spanish breeds, followed by Gaited breeds, North American breeds and Arabian breeds.

Driving
From Myton, go west on US 40 about 1 mile to the Sand Wash-Green River access turnoff. Turn south and follow the paved road 1.7 miles to the Nine Mile-Sand Wash junction. Go left for about 18 miles.
