Overview

The Lake Greenwood State Recreation Area is a gorgeous natural area that takes up a series of peninsulas on Lake Greenwood, which has 212 miles of shoreline and 11,400 acres of boating and fishing opportunities all through the year. Lake Greenwood State Recreation Area is famous for being one of 16 state parks in South Carolina built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. In this sense, it is of great historical importance. The history of the park is captured in the park's Civilian Conservation Corps museum, which also doubles up as a renowned reception and group meeting center. Amenities at the park include picnic shelters, a boathouse, water fountain and a lakeside terrace. In addition to lakeside camping, picnicking and hiking, the park also hosts the South Carolina Half-Iron Man Competition, a popular triathlon held every fall. Whther you want to bask in the sun or enjoy the water, make the Lake Greenwood State Recreation Area your next destination!
