Platte Creek Recreation Area
Overview
Fishing and water recreation draw visitors to Platte Creek Recreation Area to enjoy Lake Francis Case on the Missouri River. Visitors to Platte Creek enjoy natural features similar to those at Snake Creek Recreation Area, but from a quieter campground. The earliest maps refer to this stream as Fish Creek. After the 1880s, the creek was renamed to honor Bernard Pratte, who operated a fur post near the mouth of the creek. A spelling error forever changed the name to Platte Creek. It was in this area that Lewis and Clark were told to watch for the "burning bluffs."
Seasonality/Weather
The park is open year-round. The park offers the most opportunities for recreation in warmer months.
