This tree lies in Grant Grove in the western portion of Kings Canyon National Park. It is the third largest sequoia tree in the world with a circumference of 107 feet at its base. It stands 267 feet tall and is approximately 1,900 years old. The tree is a designated national shrine and the only living memorial to veterans who've lost their lives at war.

A paved trail leads through Grant Grove to the tree, making it accessible for individuals using wheelchairs. Also along this trail is the Fallen Monarch, a hollow, downed sequoia, and the Gamlin Cabin, used by lumbermen in the nineteenth century. A trail guide is available at the trailhead.
