Lewis Creek Trail
Lewis Creek Trail leads northward from Highway 180. The beginning elevation of this hike is 4,600 feet. The trail parallels Lewis Creek for the first one and a half miles to a fork in the path. At this point the Hotel Creek Trail leads to the right. Those wishing to end their ascent can form a loop back to the trailhead using the Hotel Creek Trail and Highway 180. Those hikers wishing to reach Frypan Meadow should follow the left side of the fork.
The trail continues to ascend as it follows the drainage. Within three miles of the trailhead the path crosses Comb Creek at an elevation of 6,000 feet. Still ascending but not as steeply, the trail leads northward and crosses Lewis Creek a mile from Comb Creek. From the Lewis Creek crossing it is a mile and a half to Frypan Meadow. From this point the trail continues northeastward to Kennedy Pass and over Monarch Divide.
