Lodgepole/Wolverton General Forest Area

The Lodgepole/Wolverton area of Sequoia National Park lies along the easternmost point of Generals Highway. The area surrounds the Marble Fork of the Kaweah River with elevations ranging from 7,250 feet to 4,500 feet. It contains several attractions, recreation facilities and guest service areas.

A good place to start your visit to the Lodgepole/Wolverton area of the park is the Lodgepole Visitor Center. The staff, exhibits and brochures at this site will provide information on recreation possibilities within the park. Individuals seeking lodging in this area have the option of two campgrounds or Wuksachi Village. Showers, laundry facilities and a post office are also available in this area of the park.

Recreation opportunities about in the Lodgepole/Wolverton area. A pack station at Wolverton offers horseback riding and stock pack trips. The Log Bridge Trailhead in Lodgepole Campground is a beginning point for pack trips and hiking treks. Visitors can participate in a guided tour of Crystal Cave. The Generals Highway provides an exciting drive on a historic road.

Directions from Big Stump Entrance: Travel north 1.5 miles to the Generals Highway. Turn right on to Generals Highway and travel 25 miles to the Lodgepole Visitor Center.

Directions from Ash Mountain Entrance: Travel northward on the Generals Highway 21 miles to Lodgepole Visitor Center.
